I am very interested in flags and vexillology. I wonder if designing and popularising local flags might be a stimulus to greater localism. I'm mostly thinking of towns, suburbs, and so forth.
It's always been a dream of mine that every neighbourhood would have its own flag.

Thanks for the welcome!
Yes, it's the Fingal flag. I wish there was a Ballymun flag!

I've heard that the black and amber are the Ballymun colours, due to some connection to Kilkenny. I've never seen any evidence of this, though. I see that Ballymun United (soccer) play in dark blue and Ballymun Kickhams play in red and green.
Personally, I think grey and green would be appropriate, given they were the predominate colours of the "old" Ballymun-- grey concrete and green fields.

Aesthetically, I like that very much, but I'm taken with my previous idea.
Since you can do computer graphics, how about this-- grey on the bottom, green on the top, with a line dividing them representing a skyline of high-rise and low-rise towers?

I realise it might seem more logical to have grey on the top, but I'm thinking of the green as the surrounding horizon-- the grey flats and towers would be protruding upwards.

I realise that I am using black rather than grey, but unfortunately with the software I am using ( here) I don't have access to grey.

It's a nice flag!
I tried to adopt it as my avatar. But I couldn't upload it. So I decided to go for a photo of the old Ballymun!
